This isn't a bad dvd writer really, especially for the price but it has problems reading some discs you use with it. So if you use a cdrw disc you created on a different burner maybe a few years ago (like i've got)then you'll probably encounter problems where it just wont play it at all. DVD moviee playback works fine but the image quality isn't amazing. People say there's no difference between dvd writers nowadays but obviously there is. Its all down to the quality of the lens in the writer.
So, overall not a bad writer but be aware that you might not be able to play quite a few cdrw discs that you may have lying around that weren't burnt using this writer.

As per the description I understand that your Sony DRU-190A DVD drive does not detect discs. Though the drive is getting detected and shows as working, there is no yellow exclamation mark in device manager. After changing Master IDE to slave ID it detects empty discs but not any written disc. You have already tried a number of troubleshooting steps like Clean Boot, updating drivers and firmware etc. but none of them helped you enough to get this problem resolved.
